Stephen Phillip Harjo, 47, was born in Ada, Oklahoma on January 30, 1969, His Lord and Savior called him home on December 28, 2016. Stephen attended Maud Public Schools and graduated from Maud High School in 1987. After graduation he attended and graduated from East Central University with his Bachelors of Education degree. Stephen was a tribal member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma. Stephen was a science teacher and basketball coach at Wanette High School in Wanette, Oklahoma. The last game he coached before his illness was won in double overtime and with a game winning shot at the buzzer. His passion was coaching basketball and horses. He had a way with horses and loved riding. He loved helping his friends and family saddle up the horses and leading riders around if needed. He taught and coached junior high basketball and football, in Texas for five years, before moving back home to the family ranch. Stephen met Jenni Winn in Texas in August of 2001, proposed three months later, and they were married on December 31, 2001 in Ada, Oklahoma. Stephen was survived by his wife Jenni Harjo of the home, his parents, Phillip and Jeanette Harjo of Maud, Oklahoma, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Ed and Nancy Winn of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, his brother Lance Harjo and his wife Lara, Scott Harjo and his wife Angela, nephew, Brooks Winn, five nieces; Karly Winn, Sydney Harjo, Sarah Harjo, Sydney Winn and Kaiya Harjo, cousins Tyler Lane and Travis Lane, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Eddie and Mallory Winn of Perkins, Oklahoma and a sister-in-law Julie Winn of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and his many friends who loved him and will miss him dearly. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, January 2, 2017 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Terry Winn officiating at the service.
