Stanley Joseph Symons, 91, longtime Seminole resident died Wednesday, May 27, 2015 in Seminole. Stanley was born April 9, 1924 in Petaluma, California to Florence Winifred (Nickson) and William Symons. Stanley attended school in Petaluma, California, before joining the United States Army in December 12, 1943. He rose through the enlisted ranks and after being accepted into Officer’s Candidate School graduating as a Second Lieutenant. He served in the Pacific Theatre of Operations during World War II. He was assigned to the Combat Engineers School and after being deployed overseas he obtained a battlefield commission to the rank of Captain. After returning from the war on January 8, 1946 he remained in the U. S. Army Reserves. Stanley was employed at Pacific Bell in northern California, where he retired after 32 years of service. He married Inez Jackson Symons on September 27, 1953 in Carson City, Nevada. They raised their daughter Tana in California. Mr. Symons and his wife retired to Seminole, Oklahoma, in 1979, where he attended Seminole Junior College attaining a certification for electrical contracting. Survivors include his wife Inez of the home, a daughter Tana and a brother Robert. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Florence Symons, a sister, Beverly, and a brother, William. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at the Strothers Memorial Chapel inside Maple Grove Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Rev. Gary O. Wilburn will officiate at the service and Mr. Symons will be buried in the Veterans Section at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole, Oklahoma.
