Shirley Ann Sexton

Shirley Ann (Jamison) Sexton, age 87 and a longtime resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away from this life on April 25, 2025 at Mercy N. Memorial Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2025 at Vamoosa Baptist Church under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Pastor Bruce Sanders will officiate, and burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Casket bearers are Kaden Goodwin, Travis Goodwin, Brian O’Hanlon, Mike Hunter, Rick Hunter, and Mike Gove. Honorary bearers are Cody Sexton, David Genee, Matthew Foster, Brandon Stoups, and Mike Jackson. The family will receive guests Thursday, May 1st at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Shirley was born December 18, 1937 in Caddo, Oklahoma to Wilburn Jamison and Willie (Bullard) Jamison. She graduated from Midwest City High School. She married Jasper Tom “J. T.” Sexton on July 7, 1956 in Midwest City, and she was a member of the Vamoosa Baptist Church. Shirley loved to go fishing, camping, and bowling. She loved gardening, cooking, watching OU Thunder games, and watching the kids play ball. 

She is survived by her husband, J.T. Sexton of the home; one son, Tommy Sexton and wife, Ramona of Konawa; two daughters, Darlene Foster and husband, Matthew of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Sharlene Genee and husband, David of Tecumseh, Michigan; two sisters, Alma Holland of Choctaw, Oklahoma, and Holly Harrison of Duncan, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, Joan Jamison of Midwest City, Oklahoma; 6 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Sherre Vincent; one son-in-law, Eric Vincent; one brother, Stan Jamison, one sister, Jean Hunter; one brother-in-law, John Holland; and one grandson, Matthew Genee.
