Shirley Faye (Foster) Nelson, age 77, passed away October 5, 2020 at her home in Seminole, Oklahoma. She was born October 22, 1942 in Seminole to parents Gilbert Ray Foster and Alice Lavaughn (Pharr) Foster. She received her GED and attended college. She worked as a freelance social science and market research interviewer and retired in 1996.
Shirley enjoyed going to the casino with her sister, playing with grandkids and playing games and winning.
Shirley is survived by her son David Lee Strickland of Tacoma, Washington, her daughters; Denise Strickland of Seminole, Oklahoma and Debra Gaye Poarch of Yukon, Oklahoma, her sisters; Patricia Kaye Johnson of Seminole, Oklahoma and Cynthia Maye Easter and her husband Jim of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, eighteen grandchildren, eighteen and counting great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; Sylvia Faye deFaria, two nieces and four nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Darrell Joe Strickland.
A graveside service for Shirley will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 9, 2020 at Cooke Cemetery located at Hwy 177 and Cooke Rd. near Asher, Oklahoma.
Casket bearers will be Jesse Still, Joel Still, Jeff Nelson, Zackery Lashley, Alex deFaria, Andy deFaria, David Lee Strickland, David Nelson, Alex Strickland and Derrick Strickland.
Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
