Sharon Northcott

Sharon Ann (Arnold) Northcott, 65 year-old life long Seminole resident passed from this life Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at her home in Seminole surrounded by her loving family.  She was born September 3, 1946 in Seminole to parents Ann (Hill) Arnold and Jack Arnold. Sharon grew up in Seminole where her father Jack Arnold began working for the Amerada Oil Company in 1943.  She graduated from Seminole High School in 1964, she went on to further her education at East Central University earning her bachelors degree in education. Sharon married Richard C. Northcott on June 7, 1968 in Maud, Oklahoma at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. Sharon’s life was all about educating her family and herself and her students.  She traveled on many occasions for school seminars to Washington D.C., Williamsburg, San Francisco, Virginia, St. Augustine, any where there was a science fair or history was being taught.  Sharon was an Oklahoma facilitator for the Oklahoma Science Museum, she also taught classes at the Jasmine Moran Children’s Museum.  Sharon was also involved in the Eastern Star McLoud Chapter where she was a lifetime member and she was also involved with the Rainbow group.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Seminole. Perhaps one of Sharon’s most outstanding accomplishments in life aside from caring for her family was her dedication to her students.  She taught in the Seminole Public School district for 43 years retiring in 2011 from Northwood School in Seminole. Sharon’s hobbies included fossil hunting, garage sales, painting and going to lake Tahoma. Sharon leaves to cherish her memory her husband of almost 44 years, Richard Northcott of the home; two sons, Richard Arnold “Ran” Northcott of Saint Pauls, North Carolina and Jack Arnold “Jan” Northcott of Seminole, Oklahoma; two sisters, Sue Herriman of Mead, Oklahoma and Jacklyn “Jackie” Acree of Shawnee, Oklahoma; one grandchild Riley Northcott and two that she treated as her own, Cody Sockey and Nikki Sockey; Sharon is also survived by a host of dear family and friends and students who’s life she has forever touched. Her Parents Jack and Ann Arnold, her grandparents Alice and Smith Arnold and Wilma and Hice Hill, precede Sharon in death. The family will be receiving friends at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole Friday evening, March 16, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church located at 910 Wrangler Blvd. in Seminole, Oklahoma with Pastor Gary Wilburn officiating the service.  Interment will follow at Little Cemetery. Casket bearers will be; Jan Northcott, Drew Jones, Tad Alford, Brett Waltman, Bryon Jenkins and Earl Jenkins. Honorary bearers; Brad Stuteville, Aaron Boggs, Mike Webster, Vic Richardson, Mark Johnson, Gavin Acree and Cody Sockey. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
