Shannon Slagle

May 28, 1943 — June 8, 2013

Shannon Slagle : 5/28/1943 – 6/8/2013 On June 8, 2013 a sunbeam from this world vanished, for at 2:00 p.m. on that Saturday afternoon Shannon Slagle departed this world.  Her genuine sincerity, infectious personality and wonderful smile are lost to this earth forever.  Shannon was born in Paul’s Valley Oklahoma on May 28, 1943; she attended grade and high school in several communities across Oklahoma and Texas and completed college course work at the University of Oklahoma.  Shannon was a Certified Medical Office Manager as well as a Certified Dental Assistant. She worked in the office of Dr. William Schmidt of Oklahoma City for several years as well as the office of Dr. Dan Patrick of Memphis Tennessee.  For twenty-three years she served with dignity and diligence as first lady of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Dentistry . In that capacity she served as hostess for alumni, faculty, staff and student social gatherings and represented the University at receptions and meetings through-out the South.  She was a gourmet cook and has many original recipes published in several cook books in the MidSouth.   Shannon also loved her canine companions.  She always had from one to seven small canine members of the family around, with Joel Joseph Kennedy Slagle passing away at the age of seventeen years only a few weeks prior to her own departure from this earth.  Now only Murphy Brown, a Yorkshire terrier, remains. While Shannon’s death will remain as a major loss to her family and friends there is no doubt the pathways of Heaven will be brighter because of her presence.  Her Faith was very personal and it was also unfaltering.  God was with her in her final hours as her ongoing excruciating pain of illness was completely transformed to rest and tranquility. In those final moments of Shannon’s earth bound life God most assuredly whispered quietly in her ear, “well done my good and faithful servant”, Shannon, “well done”. Shannon is survived by a large family including:                                              Dr. William F.
