Selah Rae Williams

Selah Rae Williams, Seminole resident, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2024 in Shawnee, at the age of 89. Selah was born on March 20, 1935 in Bearden, OK what was once called the Red Mound area to Richard H. Williams and Minnie Pearl (Rae) Williams. Selah married Nola William in October 1972 in Holdenville, OK. She passed away on June 4, 2011.

Selah worked as a welder for Independent Tank and also retired from working as a baker at the Homeland bakery. He loved fishing, camping, hunting and walking. He enjoyed working in his yard and garden. His all time favorite way to spend time was to be with his loved ones. Selah’s whole family would agree he was their hero. There are numerous stories to be shared from all who knew him.

Selah is survived by his son, Jim and wife Ann Blankenship of Vinton, VA; three daughters, Rita Bussey of Herber Springs, AR, Valerie Bonham and husband, Jr. of Texas and Jalena Akin and husband, James of Seminole, OK; two brothers, Jack Williams and John Williams; three sisters, May Hoover, Jewell Green and June Escoe; eight grandchildren, Pennie and Beau Sharp of Herber Springs, AR, Maranda Williams of Herber Springs, AR, Wendy and Jason Cunningtubby of Pauls Valley, OK, Jamie and Michael Danley of Paoli, OK, Virgil Blankenship of Vinton, VA, Pamela and Jason Hulbutta of Wewoka, OK, Jesse and Amy Roberts of Stroud, OK and Stevy Carr of the home ( a great and much appreciated caregiver); nine great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and many other family and friends.

Selah was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Minnie Williams; wife, Nola Williams; brothers, Phillip and Wallace and sisters, Georgia and Patsy.

Those serving as casket bearers will be Stevy Carr, Jesse Roberts, Jason Hulbutta, James Akin, John Williams and Jack Williams. Honorary casket bearers will be Milon Hulbutta, Andrew Roberts and Jim Blankenship.

Viewing will be Tuesday, November 19, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday, November 20, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Temple of Praise Church in Seminole, OK with Rev. Jeff Nance officiating. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
