Secquindolyn Rhodes, a life long Seminole county resident, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Shawnee, Oklahoma at the age of 72. Secquindolyn was born October 19, 1941 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to parents, Sam Alford Rhodes and Delia Mae (Samuel) Rhodes. Secquindolyn earned her Master’s Degree in Education after graduating from High School. She taught at Strother Schools, and was an accomplished author and poet before retiring in 2003. She also was a member of Delta Sigma Theta, Chapter in Wewoka, Oklahoma, the Church of Christ of Shawnee, Oklahoma, and a Navy military wife for 20 years. She married John C. Winrow on November 11, 1961 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. Secquindolyn is survived by one son, John C. Winrow, Jr. of Shawnee, Oklahoma; one daughter, Torsha S. Winrow of Denton, Texas and former husband and father of her children, John C. Winrow, Sr. of Midwest City, Oklahoma; two sisters, Rachel Rhodes Lewis of Carrollton, Texas and Ruth Rhodes Hunter and her husband Alonzo Hunter of Renton, Washington. She is also survived by five grandchildren and a host of other family and dear friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday December 21, 2013 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, Seminole, Oklahoma with Dr. George E. Young officiating. Burial will take place at Earlsboro Cemetery, Earlsboro, Oklahoma. Serving as casket bearers are: Quinton J. Winrow, Zachary B. Winrow, John C. Winrow, Orvell Lewis, II., Shawn Stephens and Earl W.
