Scenora Mae Tiger, longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed away December 29, 2019 at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 68. She was born December 7, 1951 to parents George Tiger and Nessie (Harjo) Tiger in Talihina, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma. She was a graduate of Seminole High School and attended the University of Oklahoma where she received a Master’s Degree in Social Services. Scenora worked in Social Services as a Social Worker in Oklahoma and Seminole counties for over 30 years until her retirement. She was a Lead Elder in the Talahassee Presbyterian Church where she loved teaching all the children about Jesus. She also enjoyed teaching Seminole Nation Hymns. She enjoyed sewing, singing hymns and making hymn books and visiting family and friends. She was always willing to help others out, always had a smile on her face, called everyone baby and was kind and nice to everyone. She encouraged all the children in her family to finish high school and go to college. Scenora is survived by her son; Robert Colbert III of Seminole, Oklahoma, her daughter; Rosina Tiger of Shawnee, Oklahoma, sisters; Nancy Harjo and Leafa Tiger, both of Seminole, Oklahoma, five grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Nessie Tiger and other relatives; Beatrice Pulliam, Agnus Pulliam, Anderson Tiger, Edmond Tiger, Ishmael Tiger, Webster Tiger, Clara Tiger, Flora Daniels, Jacob Osborn and Leroy “Rusty” Davis. A wake service will be at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at God’s Assembly, 720 N. University, Seminole, Oklahoma. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2020, at Swearingen Funeral Home chapel in Seminole with Paul Fixico and Eric Thlocco officiating. Casket bearers will be Justin Lena, Brian Williamson, Adrian Daniels, Elijah Daniels, Tristian Daniels and Seth Moppin. Honorary bearers will be older nephews; Harjos, Daniels, Moppin, Tanyans, Eckles, Allans, Howard, Hunter, Aguilera’s, Alsip, Davis and Harge.
