Samuel “Sam” Tilden Mansell, 87, longtime Seminole resident, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Sam was born July 25, 1930 in Seagoville, Texas to George Washington Mansell and Fannie (Carder) Mansell. Sam entered the United States Navy on June 10, 1948 and was discharged on March 28, 1952, and attained the rank of GMSN and served during the Korean War. After his service to his country, he married Noma June (Thomas) Mansell on November 26, 1954 in Seminole, Oklahoma, she preceded him in death on February 29, 2016, and by his son Tommy Mansell. Sam attended Southwestern Assemblies of God College. Sam was a Charter Member of the Tri- City Christian Center, now known as, Immanuel Fellowship Church in Seminole, Oklahoma. He was best known as a rancher, but earlier in his life he owned several service stations. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and just about anything to do with cattle. He loved his family and supported his wife’s many mission endeavors. Sam loved people, telling jokes and playing practical jokes. He liked to visit, never met a stranger and looked for the best in people. To Sam, failure was not an option; he saw it as an opportunity to try again. As a businessman he sought people who were willing to work and gave them the opportunity to succeed. Sam always had great stories about life and maintained a great outlook on life. Sam is survived by his two sons and daughters-in law, Mark and Donna Mansell of Pasco, Washington and Scott and Jennifer Mansell of Stillwater, Oklahoma, his daughter and son-in-law, Dee and Calvin Bennett of Seminole, Oklahoma, his grandchildren; Andy Mansell, Alan Mansell, Katelyn Mansell, Hollie Mansell, Nate Mansell and Jonathan Bennett and a great grandson, Hudson Bennett. He had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews in Arizona where he lived as a young man. Mary Sue, Johnny, Georgia and her daughters Gretchen and Kirstin meant so much to him. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, February 26, 2018 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma, with Rev. Glen Pence officiating. Burial will be at Little Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Nate Mansell, Calvin Bennett, Jonathan Bennett, Robert Foxx, Brandon Fruits and Rey Fruits. Honorary bearers will be Robert Thomas, Eugene Melton, Ken Hunt, John Fearn, Bill Thomas, Wayne Mansell and Greg Mansell.
