Ruth Yancey

Ruth Elaine (Baughman) Peace Bussey Self Yancey, 64 year old resident, passed from this life on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma.  She was born February 18, 1951 in Seminole, Oklahoma to parents Herman Ray Hedrick and Opal Alyene Baughman. Ruth attended Bowlegs Schools and later went to further her education at Seminole State College. She worked as a corrections officer at Davis Correctional Facility in Holdenville, Oklahoma.  Ruth was also of the Baptist faith, she was recently baptized again at Victory Baptist Church. Survivors include her step-father, Jack Peace and his wife Eva of Holdenville, Oklahoma; one son, Jamie Ra Self of Seminole, Oklahoma; two daughters, Trina Lynn Self and her husband Tuan Carter of Seminole, Oklahoma, Teresa Anne (Bussey) Brown of Shawnee, Oklahoma; one brother, Jimmy Hedrick of Shawnee, Oklahoma; six sisters, Rhonda Yeubanks of Maud, Oklahoma, Rita Peace of Jacksonville, Texas, Ruby George and her husband Rick of Pryor, Oklahoma, Kathy Anderson and her husband Clark of Seminole, Oklahoma, Mary Hause and her husband Max of Seminole, Oklahoma, Shirley Morton of Seminole, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Seth Self, Landon Madkins, Tuana Carter, Darien Carter, Dillon Brown, Justin Brown, Draye Bussey; and a host of other family and dear friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her mother, Alyene Foutz; by her father, Herman Hedrick; by her brother, Jackie Peace; by her first husband, Jim Bussey; by her second husband, J.D. Self; and by her third husband, Howard Yancey. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 29, 2015 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Rev. Jim and Nita Moreland officiating the service.  Interment will be at Holdenville Cemetery. The family has requested that donations be made to Swearingen Funeral Home, 1001 North Milt Phillips Ave. in Seminole, Oklahoma 74868 to help with expenses.
