Ruby Ruth (Bryant) Crews Funeral services for Seminole area resident Ruby Ruth (Bryant) Crews are set for 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 12, at Immanuel Fellowship Church in Seminole, Okla., with services under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, August 10, from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. The Rev. Tim Moore of Sulphur, Okla., longtime family friend, will officiate the funeral service. He will be assisted by Jon Randall Crews of Oklahoma City. Ruby was born east of Seminole on August 26, 1916, to Bryce R. and Martha (Michael) Bryant. She passed from this life at her home on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the age of 93 years, 11 months, and 12 days. She grew up in the Prairie Valley area of Seminole County and married Theodore Isaac “Ted” Crews June 22, 1935, at the age of 19. The couple had ten children. Ruby’s husband of 57 years preceded her in death in 1992. A longtime member of the Assemblies of God, in recent years Ruby attended the Bowlegs United Methodist Church. She gave her life to God, to the work of her church, to her family, and to everyone her children brought home with them through the years. She loved cooking, gardening, reading, and sewing. For several years, she made quilts for El Salvador missions. She was a homemaker who also worked in school cafeterias and in area restaurants and ran a rural Seminole Producer route with her husband Ted before his death. In addition to her husband, Ruby was preceded in death by her parents and seven brothers and two sisters; a granddaughter, Paula June Troglin in 1964; her oldest daughter, Helen June (Crews) Pierce in 1987; three sons in law, Patrick Urban in 1988, DeWitt Rawlings in 1997, and Paul Troglin in 2008. One sister survives her, Edith (Bryant) Knight of DeQueen, Ark. She is also survived by seven daughters and three sons in law: Patricia Troglin, Wetumka, Okla.; Karen and Gary Crump, Mission, Texas; Norma Christian, Donna Urban, and Sherry and Bill Fry, all of Seminole, Okla.; Janice Rawlings, Edmond, Okla., and Reba and David Rippetoe of Bowlegs, Okla. Two sons and one daughter in law also survive her: Fredore D. and Linda Crews, Norwalk, Calif.; and Theodore R. Crews of Huntsville, Texas. Other survivors include Elmo and Zelma Pierce, Edmond, Okla. In addition, 15 grandchildren survive her: Beth Pierce, Edmond, Okla.; Evan Pierce, Niagara Falls, New York; Debra (Troglin) Pullen, Wetumka, Okla.; Delana (Troglin) Carter, Stevensville, Mont.; Micah Crump, Mission, Texas; Wil Fry, Killeen, Texas; and Heather (Fry) Beauford and Zane Fry of Seminole; Shari (Fry) Morrow, Lakenheath, England; Christopher Crews, Bellflower, Calif.; Jason Crews, Angleton, Texas; Kevin Crews, Prairie Home, Mo.; Kambri (Crews) Finnegan, New York City; Holly (Urban) Palermo, Edmond, Okla.; and Jessica (Urban) Riekert, Stratford, Conn. Also surviving her are 24 great-grandchildren, 11great-great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends who have loved her through the years. Casket bearers are Kevin Crews, Jason Crews, Wil Fry, Zane Fry, Don Carter, and Mitchel Bien.
