Roy Winrow, 87, longtime Seminole and Earlsboro resident, died Thursday May 15, 2014 at his home. Roy was born January 15, 1927, in Earlsboro, Oklahoma to Buelah Mae ( Carruthers) and Jackson Winrow. Mr. Winrow was an aircraft mechanic at Tinker Air Force Base and retired after 43 years of service, in January 1992. He also served his country in the U. S. Army. He was a longtime member of the Galilee Baptist Church in Seminole, a Master Mason and member of the New Light Lodge # 113 and the American Legion Post 204 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Roy is survived by three sons, Nathaniel Winrow and Roy Winrow, Jr. both of Earlsboro, Oklahoma and Randy Winrow (Teresa) Shawnee, Oklahoma; four daughters Rozetta ( Dee) Winrow of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Loretta Young of Long Beach, California, Ginger Winrow of Tecumseh, Oklahoma and Carolyn Winrow of Shawnee, Oklahoma, two step-children, Robert Foxx of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Ollie Webb of Hesperia, California and also survived by other children Ronnie Talton of Bethel Acres, Oklahoma, David Winrow of Oahu, Hawaii, Kovetta Turner of Denver, Colorado, Dorothy Jackson of Earlsboro, Oklahoma and Jeff Jefferson of Shawnee, Oklahoma; three sisters, Erma Jean Biglow of Kansas City, Kansas, Lorene (Hiram) Ryan of Tecumseh, Oklahoma and Kathleen Hicks of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife and companion of 57 years, Doretha Winrow on March 8, 2006, one daughter, Vanessa Washington and a son, Michael Winrow; two step-sons, Edward Foxx, and Stanley Edmond; three grandsons, Terry Winrow, Larome Winrow and Desmond Winrow; three sisters, Opal Booker, Eunice Edmond, Bobbie Winrow; two brothers, Thurman Winrow and Booker Winrow. The family would like to thank the Faith Hospice of Seminole, for all the excellent care they gave to Mr. Winrow. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Rev. Larry Payne officiating. Mr. Winrow will also be buried with Masonic and Military honors. Burial will be at Westwood Cemetery in Wewoka, Oklahoma.
