Roy Williams

Roy Chon Williams, 41 year-old, Okemah resident passed from this life on Monday, December 6, 2010 following an automobile accident in Henryetta, Oklahoma.  He was born August 20, 1969 in Seminole, Oklahoma to parents Mary Frances (Ponkilla) Williams and Ernest Frank Williams.  He graduated from Strother High School in 1988. Roy married Sunnie Loraine (Marshall) Williams on August 8, 1994 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Roy served in the United States Marine Corps as a Lance Corporal where he earned the Rifle Marksman Badge; Good Conduct Medal; Combat Action Ribbon; Kuwait Liberation Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with one star; and the Southwest Asia Service Medal with two stars. He was also a proud member of the Seminole Nation. Roy worked as a corrections officer at the Boley Prison for eight years. Then he has worked for the Muskogee Creek Nation for the past three years.  He is a member of the New Beginnings Baptist Church in Henryetta.  He is also a member of the Okemah American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Sunnie Williams of the home; one son, Rhett Chon Williams of the home; three daughters, Adrianna Maria Williams, Brina Lee Williams and Chastity Nicole Williams all of the home; one brother, Gerald R. Williams of Seminole, Oklahoma; eight sisters, Ava F. Dunson, Marcella McKane, Evita J. Williams, Doris A. Boone, Bonita J. Williams, Jolanda K. Nauni, Regina L. Lozer and Lahoma O. Williams all of Seminole, Oklahoma; and a host of other family and dear friends. Roy is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Mary F. Williams and by one brother, Tony Ray Williams. Wake services are scheduled for Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and another will be held Friday, December 10, 2010 at New Beginnings Baptist Church in Henryetta starting at 6:00 p.m.. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Strother High School Gymnasium.  Rev. J.R. Taylor will officiate the service.  Interment will follow at the Williams Family Cemetery in Okemah, Oklahoma with Full Military Honors. Casket Bearers will be: Jason Williams, Justin Boone, Ky Pebworth, Jr. Dodson, Robby Deere and John Sands. Honorary Bearers will be: Gerald Williams, Michael Ledbetter, Joe Smith, Paul Harjochee, Famous Marshall Jr., Eric “Packey” Haney, Albert “Scoot” Marzette and Jason Kelley.
