Roy Eugene Wainwright, 80 year old longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed away April 4, 2020 in Seminole. He was born June 19, 1939 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to parents Roy Mitchell Wainwright and Mary Jane (Hall) Wainwright. He grew up in Chicago, Illinois and then moved to Seminole where he lived for 60 years. He was a pole line construction worker for Canadian Valley Electric until his retirement. Roy served his country in the United States Army in Germany from 1956 to 1959 and then 5 years in the National Guard, all during peace time. Roy was a collector of military memorabilia, was an avid OU football fan and enjoyed drinking coffee with his friends around town. He often frequented the Bus Station where his picture can be found on the wall with other veterans. He also enjoyed socializing with his friends at the Boom-A-Rang Diner and McDonalds. Roy is survived by his son; Roy Mitchell Wainwright and his wife Tina of Seminole, Oklahoma, his daughter; Charity Boyer of Seminole, Oklahoma, brothers; John E. Wainwright of Yauco, Puerto Rico, Johnathan M. Wainwright of San Juan, Puerto Rico and Ronald A. Wainwright of San Juan, Puerto Rico, grandchildren; Lacey J. Martin, Jordan C. Moreno, Taylor M. Wainwright, Devon R. Williamson, Hanna M. Wainwright and Jaxson G. Boyer and great grandchild; Mila Jean Martin. He was preceded in death by his father; Roy Mitchell Wainwright, his mother; Mary Hall, his brother; Robert F. Wainwright and his stepmother; Juana Wainwright. Graveside services with Military Honors will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole, Oklahoma with Gary Canfield officiating. The family is asking those who will be attending the service to meet in the Swearingen Funeral Home parking lot at 1:45 to follow them in a procession to the cemetery.
