Roy Lee Kuhlengel

April 27, 1930 — November 5, 2010

Roy Lee Kuhlengel, age 80, passed away at his home in Coolidge, Arizona on Friday, November 5, 2010. A graveside service with military honors is scheduled for 10: 00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 16th at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa.  Rev. Ed Bray, Pastor of Cross Timbers Church of Konawa will officiate. Roy was born on April 27, 1930 in St. Louis, Missouri to Pearl (Hall) and Fred Kuhlengel.  He worked as an electrician for the U.S. Government, and he served in the Army during the Korean War from 1947 until 1951.  He married Cornelia Kutscha on June 27, 1955 in Germany. Roy was a wonderful husband and father, married for fifty-five years.  He was a Korean War veteran with the Airborn Infantry Unit and the recipient of a Bronze Star with the V device for valor service in combat.  He had his commercial and agricultural pilot’s license.  He will be truly missed, a great man of many talents who worked for twenty-five years for the B.I.A. San Carlos Power Electrical Systems. He is survived by his wife, Cornelia (Kutscha) Kuhlengel of the home; one son, Roy Wayne Kuhengel of Dallas, Texas; two daughters, Ivy Jean Kuhengel of Shawnee, Oklahoma, and Jeanne May Stanton of Kinton, Tennessee; one sister, Peggy Van Reid of St. Louis, Missouri; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Pearl Kuhlengel; two brothers, Robert & Fred Kuhlengel; and one sister, Dorothy Turnbull.
