Roy Everett Gurley, 80, longtime Seminole resident died Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Solara Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Roy was born February 14, 1931 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Everett M. and Maudie (Combs) Gurley. Roy graduated from Strothers High School and worked in the Seminole oilfields for The Dowell Company in Sales for 32 years. He retired in 1995. Roy was married to Margaret Langston on May 26, 1951 in Seminole, Oklahoma and she preceded him in death on March 22, 2006. He later married Dee Ann Hutton on September 6, 2008 in Seminole, Oklahoma and she survives him. Roy loved gardening, he loved to can pickles and make homemade jelly and give to his family, friends and church family. He loved his family and spending time with them. Roy never met a stranger and loved to talk to people. His wife Dee Ann Gurley of Seminole, Oklahoma, four sons and daughters-in-law’s, Bill and Darla Gurley of Michigan, David and Debbie Gurley of Seminole, Oklahoma, Mike and Paula Gurley of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Mark Gurley of Seminole, Oklahoma, survives Roy. Three stepdaughters Deborah Motherspau of Seminole, Oklahoma, Jamie and Husband Ron Curtis and Tori Phillips all of Wewoka, Oklahoma. Two sisters Pauline Patterson and Esteen Scott both of Seminole, Oklahoma, and a sister-in-law: Suzzette and husband Tommy Williamson of Ardmore, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his grandchildren Bryanna Stuever and husband Ronnie, Brandon Gurley and Fiance’ Chantel, Dustin Gurley and fiance’ Mindy, David Gurley and Billy Gurley. His great grandchildren Joey, Jasmine, Daisy, William, James and Angelina Gurley. Camden, Cash and Cooper Stuever and Ryder Gurley also survive him. His step grandchildren Ashley, Yasha, Macayla and Jacob Brinsfield, Matthew Motherspau, Tyler Hutton and Issac Wintershied, Tanya Tracy Marsh, Angel Tracy, James Hunnicutt, Jennifer Stafford and Sara Sisco and step-great grandchildren Ka’Leah and Zehrehne Simpkins and Amya Motherspau, Kyrie and Mekhi Marsh, Cassie Cooper, Diane Stafford, Alyssa Sneed,Shelby Hunnicutt and Kaelynn Sisco, also survive him. Funeral Services are planned for 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Little Cemetery. Rev. Gus Monreal will officiate the services.
