Ronald Francis Conner

Ronald “Ronnie” Francis Conner, 83, longtime Seminole resident, died Monday, January 9, 2017 at the Veterans Center in Norman, Oklahoma. Ronnie was born January 20, 1933, in Seminole, Oklahoma, to Orville F. “Jelly” Conner and Mamie (Eberle) Conner. Ronnie grew up in Seminole and attended Seminole Public Schools and graduated from Seminole High School, he attended Central State College and East Central University. Ronnie was a member of the First Church of God in Seminole, Oklahoma. Ronnie served his country in the United States Army and attained the rank of Corporal, serving during the Korean War time. After military service, Ronnie went to work as a welder at Schafer Drilling Company in Oklahoma City.  He then went to work for his brother-in-law Bill Weems as a bit retipper.   As business started to grow, they formed Bill Weems Welding, Inc.,  and worked in every aspect of the oil and gas business for over 60 years.  His friends and business clients always said “if you can’t find a part or a wellhead call Ronnie Conner, because he has it or can find it.” Ronnie married Glenda (Turner) Conner on November 29, 1953 at the First Church of God in Seminole, Oklahoma. Ronnie is survived by his wife of 63 years, Glenda Conner of Seminole, OK, his two sons, Rickey L. Conner and his wife Tamra J. Conner and Ronald “Trace” Conner and his wife Michele “Shelly” Renee Conner all of Seminole, OK, two sisters Connie Lou Weems of Seminole, OK and Pama R. Nowlin of Wister, OK.  Papaw  to four grandchildren; Dr. Andrew  K.P. Conner and his wife Shannon and Caley E.F. Conner all of Oklahoma City, OK, and Chloe Renee Conner and Chase Wells Conner all of Seminole, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents Jelly and Mamie Conner, his sister, Donna Sue Lee. The family will receive friends and family at a visitation, Wednesday evening January 11, 2017, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Swearingen Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Pastor Nick Atyia officiating. Military honors will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole, Oklahoma following the funeral. Casket bearers will be Kelly Cook, Buddy Gore, Ronnie Allison, Rickey Conner, Trace Conner, Dr. Andrew Conner and Chase Conner. Honorary bearers will be Ollie Adams, Wayne Babb, Jimmy Howard, Derek Henley, Damon Henley, Hammett Atyia, Freid  Atyia, Kenny Green, Logan Allison, Wilbur Johnson, Glen Cook, Bill Pogue and Chris Pogue.
