Roman Wood, age 75 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. A wake service is scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25th, at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 26th, at the Chapel, and burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Leon Postoak, Dorsey Nero and Frank Moppin will officiate. Pallbearers are Larry Guess, Jack Merrell, Terry Phillips, Josh Puntka, Norman Hill, Lewis Carpitche, and Troy Stinnett. Roman was born on July 4, 1938 in Ada, Oklahoma to Moony Wood and Hanna Mae (Connor). He married Peggy Harjo on June 1, 1991 in Sasakwa, Oklahoma, and he was a member of the Seminole Arbeka Baptist Church. Roman worked as a heavy equipment operator for Seminole county, and he was a veteran of the Army National Guard. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Wood of the home; two sons, Terry Bicknell of Konawa and Tristian Thomas also of Konawa; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Anderson Burgess, John Harjo, and Samuel Wood.
