One Seminole resident will leave a hole in the lives of many, many people as he leaves this earth to enter his eternal life. Dave “Roman” Hill, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2013 at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City; he was 66 years old. He will be joining his wife, Dora “Tootsie” May (Carbitcher) Hill, who preceded him in death October 3, 2009. Loving, devoted parents, now angels in heaven, will be watching over and protecting the family they have left behind. Hill was a loving husband, supportive father, brother, uncle, devoted grandfather, and dear friend. A man with a constant smile on his face and a devilish twinkle in his eyes, Hill would always have a few minutes to speak to anyone or everyone who came around him. He was an outgoing guy who took the time to help others and loved so many, never asking for anything in return. Hill loved teasing and joking with his family and those closest to him. Along with his huge smile, endless hugs and boisterous laughter, he was the leader of his family and they respected that position. “He was a really great guy,” said Seminole Police Lieutenant Tommy Mackey. “I never saw him without a smile on his face.” Born Dec. 18, 1946 in Hanna, Okla. to Jack Isaac and Mary (Proctor) Hill, he called the Seminole area home for over 40 years. Hill not only cared for his family, he served his country for over 20 years in the military. Enlisted in the Army and the National Guard, he retired as a Sergeant, He served in Vietnam and Desert Storm, during his military career. Hill was a member of Trenton Baptist Church and also attended Sand Creek Eufaula Baptist Church in Wewoka. As a man of many talents, he liked to keep to the old Indian traditions of the Muskogee/Creek tribe. He also belonged to the Tallahassee Wvkokaye Ceremonial Ground. Hill loved to attend the Indian pastimes of the stomp dance and pow-wows. He also enjoyed making the women’s turtle shells for the dances as well as the traditional balls used in stick ball games. But a big part of his love and life was playing with his grandchildren, whom he enjoyed having around him. He loved spending time with his children and attending ballgames. Hill was a major OU football fan and a big Thunder Basketball fan. He would good-naturedly rib anyone who thought otherwise. On Nov. 12, 1971 Hill married “Tootsie” in Bowlegs, OK; together they raised seven children and helped raise grandchildren. “Those little ones are our blessings,” he would say.
