Roman Gregg “Hip” Bear, 48, Shawnee, Oklahoma resident, passed away, Tuesday, January 29, 2019 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Hip was born on October 2, 1971 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Johnson Bear and Betsy Tachene-Bear. He grew up in Seminole and attended Seminole Public Schools and graduated from Seminole High School in 1989 and was a member of the Seminole Nation Muscogee Creek and Navajo tribes. Hip had lived in Shawnee, Oklahoma for the past 20 years where he worked as an electrician and carpenter. He was a member of the Indian Nations Baptist Church. Hip enjoyed all sports, especially OU football, Green Bay Packers, New York Yankees and all levels of rodeos, playing golf and spending time with his friends and family. Hip is survived by his mother Betsy Bear of Shawnee, Oklahoma, his son Hunter Johnson Bear of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, his daughter Dominique Shania Bear of Shawnee, Oklahoma, his sister Lisa Duello and her husband James, grandchildren Kade’Nia Bear and Kashtin Roman Bear, nephews Jake Thorpe, Zayne Thorpe, both of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Joe Duello, Seminole, Oklahoma and niece Ayita J. Duello of Seminole, Oklahoma. Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 1, 2019 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Barnett officiating. Casket bearers will Louie Edwards, Tracy Haney, Stacy Haney and John Hanes. Honorary bearers will be Jake Thorpe and Zayne Thorpe. Cremation and memorial services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
