Roly Harjo

Roly Harjo, 95 year old Shawnee, Oklahoma resident and former Seminole, Oklahoma resident passed from this life Thursday, August 13, 2020 surrounded by his loving family at his home in Shawnee.  He was born September 25, 1924 in Seminole to parents Eliza (Deer) Harjo and Timmie Harjo.

Roly enlisted in the United States Army and later worked for Fred Jones Manufacturing in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma until his retirement.

Roly was a member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma.

Survivors include 5 sons, Howard Sarkechee of the home in Shawnee, Oklahoma; Ronnie Harjo of the Home, Winfred Harjo of the home, Jeffery Harjo of the home and Paul Harjo and his wife Misty of Shawnee, Oklahoma; 3 daughters, Beverly Hill and her husband Joe Johnson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Anita Lena and her husband Louie of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Sharron Messer of Shawnee, Oklahoma; many grandchildren and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of other family including nephews Cecil Larney, Bill Larney, Sammy Hajo, Norman Dunn and nieces Lovna Smith, Hattie Lindsey and Elouise Keen;  and a host of friends.

Roly was preceded in death by his parents Eliza and Timmie Harjo, by two wives, by 1 son Ronald Harjo, 1 daughter Laquita Gwendolyn Factor and by 3 brothers Cecil Harjo, Sam Harjo and Clarence Fox.  Roly is also preceded in death by 3 sisters Lou Annie Larney, Minnie Lindsey, Louisa Dunn; 1 son-in-law Michael Messer and by 1 great grandson Omar Louie Barraza.

A wake service is scheduled for Monday, August 17, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Seminole.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole.  Interment will follow at Snake Creek Cemetery located east of Little, Oklahoma.

Casket Bearers will be: Brandon Harjo, Louis Lena Jr., Kevin Lena, Zack Harjo, Daniel Harjo, Justin Lena and Jeremy Messer.

Honorary Bearers will be: Jeremy Jones, Jerimiah Messer, Wyatt Messer, Jayden Harjo, Elijah Lena, Jared Messer, Mark Sosa and Rigoberto Salamannica.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
