Roland James Neal, 65, Shawnee, Oklahoma resident and formerly of Seminole, Oklahoma, died Monday, September 12, 2016 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma after a lengthy illness. Roland was born January 21, 1951 in Seminole, Oklahoma where he grew up. Roland attended Seminole Public Schools and graduated from Seminole High School in 1969. While at Seminole High School he was an outstanding basketball player. Roland was retired from the United States Army where he served his country for 14 years and retired as a staff sergeant. He spent several years in Germany and was a medical specialist in the Army. Roland loved to fish, play softball, and was a national tournament softball umpire, for many years. Roland was an inductee to the Seminole High School Alumni for his achievements in Basketball. Roland loved his children, grandchildren and was very good gardener. He loved celebrations and was a member of the Ebenzer Baptist Church in Seminole, Oklahoma. Roland is survived by his mother Delores Jones of Seminole, Oklahoma, one son Terrance Neal and his wife Bobbie of Blue Springs, Missouri and three daughters, Tiffany Neal and Rachel Neal both of Dallas, Texas and Renee Neal of Lubbock, Texas, two brothers, Marcus Butler of Los Angeles, California and Irby Butler of New Jersey. Five grandchildren Tameesha Neal, Brittany Neal, Brianna Neal, Brooke Neal, and Taleise Scott, three great grandchildren, Karter Neal, Ava Bowman and Aria Bowman. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma, with Rev. Larry Payne officiating.
