Roland Ray McKown

Roland Ray McKown, age 86, passed away June 24, 2020 at his home in Yukon, Oklahoma. He was born September 21, 1933 in Maud, Oklahoma to parents Chub McKown and Ola (Wann) McKown.  Roland grew up in Maud, Oklahoma and had also lived in Fall River, Massachusetts and Yukon, Oklahoma. He married his wife Linda on April 16, 1953 in Fall River, Massachusetts. Sadly, she passed away February 21, 2013.

Roland served his country in the United States Navy. He received the National Defense Service Medal and was honorably discharged. He was the owner/operator of McKown Heat & Air in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for many years. He was a member of the Maud Masonic Lodge and liked to read World War II documentaries.

Roland is survived by his daughter; Shawn Wyer of Yukon, Oklahoma, cousin; Timothy McKown, grandchildren; Stacey Webb, Nichole McKown, Mindy Wyer and Angie McKown, great-grandchildren; Serena Webb, Desmend Wyer, Sierra Webb, Majaya Powell, Wyatt Webb, Aidric Taylor and Elgin Red Elk and great-great grandchildren; Jaina, Jenson and Drace. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Linda and his sons; Brett M. McKown and Scott McKown.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Oklahoma. Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate the service.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
