Robert Myers Rushing

Robert M. “Bob” Rushing, Sr., 84, Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away, Wednesday, November 28, 2018 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Robert was born November 24, 1934 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Hadley Rushing and Winnie Townsend. Robert graduated from Tecumseh High School in Tecumseh, Oklahoma in 1952. Bob was a longtime Seminole resident from the early 1960’s to 2010 when he moved back to Shawnee, Oklahoma. Bob was an Aerospace Engineer and had worked for Lockheed Martin and North American Rockwell (now Boeing) in Tulsa, Oklahoma from 1970 until his retirement in 1995. He loved fishing, watching OU football and baseball; he had a great passion for watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, was an amateur artist, enjoyed growing plants and was very creative. Bob attended the Baptist Church. Bob served his country in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958 and then was released to the United States Army Reserves until he was discharged with the rank of Sergeant on November 20, 1962. During active duty he was in Battery B 3rd Division Observation Battalion 25th Artillery at Ft. Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma. Bob was a member of the American Legion in Shawnee. Bob is survived by one son; Robert M. “Bobby” Rushing, Jr., of Shawnee, Oklahoma, two daughters and sons-in-law, Susie and Bill Robinson of Searcy, Arkansas and Kim and Brian “Huff” Harper of Yukon, Oklahoma, one brother, Dr. Donald Rominger, Jr. and his wife Janelle; seven grandchildren, Josh Williamson, Cory Williamson, Courtney Harper, Whitney and Brian Didonato, Kale Harper, Brecken Rushing, Keelee and Colby Holladay, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 49 years, Anna Mae (Detrick) Rushing who passed away November 1, 2009. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., on Monday, December 3, 2018 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, in Seminole, with Dr. Donald Rominger, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole. Casket bearers will be Josh Williamson, Cory Williamson, Kale Harper, Brian Didonato, Bill Robinson, Huff Harper and Brecken Rushing. Visitation will be Sunday, December 2, 2018 from 1:00 to 5:00 P.M. at the Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma. Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma is in charge of arrangements.
