Robert "Sir Bob" Nance

Mr. Robert Eugene “Bob” Nance, age 83, of Seminole, OK, known to many as “Sir Bob”, died on June 23, 2015 in Midwest City, Oklahoma, of natural causes. Bob was born on October 5, 1931 in Neosho, Missouri to Roy Lee Nance and Grace Neola (Birch) Nance. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War during the third Korean winter and the Korea summer-fall in 1953.  During Bob’s service to our country he had earned the rank of corporal.  He also earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal with two stars, and the Nations Service Medal. Bob married Betty Lois Jones on October 3, 1954 in Reno, Nevada. After moving to Madera, California, Bob and Lois started their family.  They moved to Seminole in 1969 and Bob worked as a shipping supervisor for Blue Bell, and later Hayes Axle. Following his retirement from Hayes Axel, Bob went on to work for Seminole IGA, then Nichol's Best-Yet Grocery Store, and worked at Wal-Mart as a greeter until the age of 81, where his nickname of “Sir Bob” was coined.  Bob was a well-known, popular figure throughout Seminole, and always had a kind word and friendly smile for the many friends he encountered on a daily basis. Bob was an accomplished self-taught writer, with his own column in the Seminole Producer, of which he was very proud.  He also wrote poetry as a hobby. He was a thoughtful, insightful, and generous individual who loved his family and who was passionate about his faith, and his service to his country. He was an active and dedicated member of the Temple of Praise Pentecostal Church of God, and he often volunteered to share his experiences as a United States Army Veteran at schools throughout Seminole County. Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lois, of the home; son Duane Nance and his wife Sharon, of Tishomingo, OK; daughter Cindi (Nance) Shivers and her husband Doug, of Yukon, OK; and son Jeff Nance and his wife Naoma, of Seminole, OK; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and dear friends.
