Robert Stephen Morris

Robert Stephen “ Monk” Morris, 61, longtime Seminole resident died, Sunday, August 28, 2011 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born December 22, 1949 in Duncan, Oklahoma to George Lealand and Betty (Collis) Morris. Robert attended schools at Pleasant Grove and Bowlegs High School and had lived in Seminole most all of his life. He worked many years in the Seminole oilfields as a driller and derrick hand on area drilling rigs. Robert served in the U.S. Army from 1965-1969. Robert was married to Shirley (Canaday) Vanbrunt on January 14, 1970 in Ada, Oklahoma. His wife Shirley Morris of the home survives Robert. Two daughters Dinette Wren of New Lima, Oklahoma and LeaCarol Neill of Seminole, Oklahoma along with 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held at the Swearingen Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and a farewell luncheon is planned for 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at the Coney Island Tabernacle Church East of Bowlegs, Oklahoma.
