Robert Lennard

Robert Louis “Bob” Lennard, 90, longtime Seminole resident died Friday at the Norman Veterans Center in Norman, Oklahoma. Robert was born on July 3, 1920 to Oscar L. and Minnie Lou (Crisp) Lennard in Morringsport, LA. Mr. Lennard moved to Seminole from Dallas, Texas in 1989, while in Dallas he worked for the Internal Revenue Service as a Deputy Collector for 25 years. After moving to Seminole he married Helen Ann (Ishmael) Jackson of January 28, 1989 at the First Baptist Church in Seminole,Oklahoma., where they were members. Bob was very active in the Seminole and Shawnee Bowling Leagues, which he loved; he also was an avid bird watcher and raised birds. Mr. Lennard proudly served his country during World War II, serving in the United States Marine Corp. He served from 1941 to 1945 as a sergeant. He also fought in the Battle for Iwo Jima during the war. Mr. Leonard is survived by his wife Helen Lennard of the home in Seminole; a daughter and son-in-law Tanya and David Benson of Dallas, Texas. A stepson and his wife Ronnie and Linda Jackson of Waurika, Oklahoma and stepdaughter and her husband, Patsy and Wendell Hamilton of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive him. One son Bill Lennard preceded him in death. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church in Seminole with Rev. Russell Vicars officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole. Grandsons will be casket bearers.
