Robert Gene “Bob” Harber, 85, lifelong Seminole resident died, Thursday, March 1, 2018 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Bob was born on November 18, 1932 in Seminole, Oklahoma to, J.N. “Newt “ Harber and Meddie (Baker) Harber. Bob grew up in Seminole and attended Seminole Public Schools and graduated from Seminole High School. Bob worked for the government surveying the ocean floor. After his retirement, he worked as a geologist. Bob was a member of the Seminole Church of Christ and had served in the United States Army during the Korean War and attained the rank of Private. Bob loved flying, building projects, he was a voracious reader and he loved history, astronomy, physics, geology and geography. He had a great love for animals, especially stray ones. Bob was highly intelligent and educated and he continued to value learning until the end of his life. Bob is survived by his sister Ella Ruth Fortner of Duncan, Oklahoma, his nieces and nephews Linda Guest, Ruthann Postier, Doug Fortner, Steve Harber, Terri Harber and Valerie Harber. He is also survived by many grand nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers J.N. Harber and Bill Harber. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Arpoika Daniels officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Seminole Church of Christ at 12040 N. Highway 99, Seminole, Oklahoma 74868 or the Free to Live Animal Sanctuary at P.O.
