Robert Ackerman

Robert Kenneth Ackerman, 79, longtime Seminole resident died, Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Pioneer Nursing Home in Seminole, Oklahoma. Robert was born February 11, 1933 in Trinidad, Colorado to Charles and Ruth ( Endicott) Ackerman. Robert came to Seminole 35 years ago from Bailey, Colorado, to make his home here. While in Seminole he drove a school bus for Seminole and Shawnee Public School Systems. Prior to coming to Seminole, Robert served in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years retiring as a Master Sergeant (E-7). Robert loved to share the gospel with people wherever he could. Robert was married to Barbara Kay( Sagen) Ackerman on October 7, 1951 in Rapid City, South Dakota and she preceded him in death on June 1, 1986. Robert is survived by four sons and daughter-in-laws, Robert Bryce Ackerman, Ronald Bret and LaDonna Ackerman of McLoud, Oklahoma,Roland Bart and Kathy Ackerman, Rodney Brant and Summer Ackerman, all of Seminole, Oklahoma & a sister Claudine Pearman of Oregon. One daughter-in-law (Richard Bryan Ackerman's widow) Laurie Ackerman of Denver, Colorado.  He is also survived by his grandchildren whom he loved very much; Jason Ackerman, Angela Davis, Nikki and Ashton Salsman, Madison and Amin Factor, Kendall and Eddie Diaz, Bailey and Bob Herrera, Colt Ackerman, Courtney Ackerman, Ashley and Dustin Koster, Andrew and Kelcey Wilson, Andrea Wilson, Alyssa and Bobby Humphrey; six great-grandchildren, Ashton Frazier, Garret Ishman, Bella Diaz, Rosalynn Herrera, Edison Diaz and Braelyn Humphrey. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Barbara, a son Richard Bryan Ackerman and a granddaughter Jenna Kay Ackerman. Funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, July 2, 2012 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole, Oklahoma with military honors. His son, Ron Ackerman, will deliver the eulogy at the service. Casket bearers will be Bryce Ackerman, Drew Wilson, Bart Ackerman, Rodney Ackerman, Colt Ackerman and Amin Factor. Honorary bearers will be Ron Ackerman, Delbert Bartosh and Scott Bartosh. Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma is in charge of arrangements.
