Rob L. Pyron, 69, longtime Seminole resident, died Thursday, October 18, 2018 in Oklahoma City, surrounded by his family. Rob was born on February 17, 1949 in Midwest City, Oklahoma to Marvin, who died prior to his birth, and Alice (Harris) Pyron. His Mother, a teacher, reared Rob and his two siblings in several Oklahoma communities, however Rob spent the majority of his childhood in Wewoka, where he attended school and graduated from Wewoka High School in 1967. Rob was an outstanding orator and while in high school he competed and excelled in Speech and Debate. He also played football and was a member of the 1966 Wewoka High School State Championship team. After high school, Rob attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford for two years and then Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU) in Shawnee for two years where he received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in 1971. During college Rob stayed connected with his hometown of Wewoka and was Sports Editor for the Wewoka Times. While attending OBU, one of Rob’s professors was a young State Representative from Seminole named David Boren who would soon run for Governor. Rob joined the “Boren Broom Brigade” and Boren hired Rob to serve as his campaign manager. Boren was elected Governor in 1974 and Rob continued to use his oratory skills serving as Governor Boren’s Press Secretary. While Rob was working as Press Secretary, First Lady Janna Boren introduced him to his true love, Jane Ann Lynn of Seminole, and they married July 12, 1975. Also while working as Press Secretary, Rob attended law school at night at Oklahoma City University and received his Juris Doctorate in 1978. Governor Boren became United States Senator and Rob continued in his role as Press Secretary until 1980, when Rob and Jane Ann returned to Seminole County and Rob began the practice of law, which he did for 38 years. Rob devoted his adult life to his family, his church, and his community. Rob was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Seminole where he taught the Family Circle Sunday School Class for 33 years. His favorite Bible verse was Matthew 25:40, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me”, and Rob strove to live it every day. Rob believed as a lawyer, his job was to help people. Rob represented thousands of clients over his 38 years of practicing law and with his oratory skills, he excelled in the courtroom. He was widely regarded by his colleagues as the best at cross-examination of a witness. Rob also spent countless volunteer hours serving the community. Among many others, Rob served on the Seminole School Board for 21 years, was Chairman of the Jearl Smart Foundation, and was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Rob loved all sports, but he especially loved watching the Oklahoma Sooners, the Oklahoma City Thunder, and Tiger Woods. He loved to read and political discussions. Above all, Rob loved his wife and two sons. As a member of the School Board, he had the honor of handing both of his sons their high school diploma when they graduated from high school. Recently, Rob welcomed his sons to the practice of law and they will continue the Pyron Law Firm. He loved mentoring them and being involved in their lives. Rob is survived by his wife of 43 plus years, Jane Ann, of the home in Seminole, his two sons, Joshua Pyron and Laci, of Seminole, and Zack, of Seminole, and his sister Cherry Tredway and her husband Richard, of Oklahoma City.
