Richard Allen Jackson, Sr., 69 year old Miami, Oklahoma resident passed from this life Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at his home in Miami, Oklahoma. He was born May 19, 1938 in Santa Cruz, California to parents Lester Edward Jackson and Pearl Mildred (Harbison) Jackson.rnrnMr. Jackson married Theresa Yvonne Cowan on May 30, 1962. He served in the United States Air Force enlisting in 1961, he then enlisted in the United States Army retiring in May of 1998. During his service to our Country he earned the Air Force "Good Conduct Medal" and the "Air Force Longevity Service Award". He later received the Army "Good Conduct Medal", "Markmans (Rifle) Medal" and the "National Defense Service Medal". When Mr. Jackson retired from the Army he had earned the rank of Sergeant First Class (E7).rnrnRichard lived in Oklahoma where he received his Masters in education and was an educator for many years. He was a member of the Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Racine, Missouri. Mr. Jackson was also a member of the V.F.W. where he had served as a service officer. He was also active in the jail and prison ministries.rnrnSurvivors include his wife, Theresa (Cowan) Jackson of the home.rnrnFour daughters: Terri Gilker of Elberta, Alabama, Veronica Vazquez of Miami, Oklahoma, Tammy Campbell of Silverhill, Alabama and Melody Lamb of Miami, Oklahoma.rnrnThree brothers, Gerald Gable of Las Vegas, Nevada, Raymond Buchanan of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Alvin Buchanan of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.rnrnTwo sisters, Wanda June Rolfes of Florissant, Missouri and Alene Pugh of Post Falls, Idaho.rnrnAlso surviving are 17 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a host of other family and dear friends.rnrnMr. Jackson is preceded in death by his biological father, Lester Edward Jackson, also by his mother, Pearl Mildred (Harbison) Jackson-Buchanan and by his father who raised him, James Samuel Buchanan. Also preceding him in death is one son, Richard Allen Jackson, Jr., and two granddaughters, Angelica Vazquez and Aarika Waters.rnrnFuneral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 16, 2007 at the Historic Strothers Chapel located in Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole, Oklahoma. Rev.
