Richard Ray Cartwright, former Maud and Shawnee, Oklahoma resident, age 87, went to be with his Lord on April 2, 2020 at his home in Goodyear, Arizona. He was born December 9, 1932 in Stonewall, Oklahoma to parents Lelan Cartwright and Gladys Pearl (Knight) Ray. He grew up in Stonewall and attended school there. He married Mary Lou Carter on October 16, 1959 in Henderson, Kentucky. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He received a Purple Heart and attained the rank of Corporal. Richard worked for Transcon Lines as a cross country truck driver until his retirement. He was a member of Quail Springs Baptist Church and was a 32nd degree Mason. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and golf. He was a selfless man who made sacrifices for his family. He was a favorite uncle and a friend to many and was dearly loved by his family. Richard is survived by his wife Mary Lou of the home, his son; Scott Cartwright of Goodyear, Arizona, his daughter; Tandy Hudson of Allen, Oklahoma, his brother; Gary Cartwright of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and his grandson; Kyle Allen Cartwright of Phoenix, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son; Mark Allen Cartwright, his brothers; Larry David Cartwright and Robert Cartwright and his son-in-law; Joe Hudson. Richard will be buried at 1:00 p.m., Friday April 10, 2020, at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
