Reva Dean (Rutledge) Hamilton

Reva Dean (Rutledge) Hamilton, age 72 and a resident of Asher, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at St. Anthony Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 17, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Asher under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa, Oklahoma.  Dwayne Johnson and Randy Dirrim will officiate, and burial will follow at Vista Cemetery.  Casket bearers are Jack Thompson, Bruce Throckmorton, Cliff Honeycutt, Freddy Wright, Scott Dubler, and Marco Soler. Reva was born August 30, 1945 in Durant, Oklahoma to Roy Carter Rutledge and Matilda Pearl (McDonald) Rutledge.  Her Dad’s favorite nick-name for Reva was “Twister” because she loved to laugh and entertain everyone.  She graduated from Durant High School and later married John Eworth Hamilton, Jr. on May 8, 1963 in Durant.  John and Reva had made Asher their home in 1977, and Reva was the Finance Secretary for Asher Public School System.  She served on the City Council of Asher for numerous years, and she was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Asher.  She loved the Lord and her church family. She is survived by two sons, Scott Hamilton and wife, Billie of Asher, Oklahoma, and Jason Hamilton and wife, Cara of Madill, Oklahoma; one daughter, Teri Tulane and husband Scott of Luther, Oklahoma; one sister, Barbara Hendrix of Durant, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, Anna Scott of Ada, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, Jarris Hamilton, Jake Hamilton, Patch Hamilton, Khrystin Hamilton, Madison Hamilton, Tahlan Hamilton, Tannah Hamilton, Brody Hamilton, and Emily Tulane; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Matilda Rutledge; husband, John E. Hamilton, Jr. on July 9, 2018; two brothers, Roy Lee Rutledge and Donald Rutledge; three sisters, June Cook, Chiquita McGee, and Treva Wood.
