Rev. James Eugene Jackson

January 24, 1963 — February 7, 2025

Prague

Rev. James Eugene Jackson, 62, Prague, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life to his heavenly reward on Friday, February 7, 2025, at his home in Prague, Oklahoma. James was born on January 24, 1963, in Grand Prairie, Texas to Marion Sue (Peoples) Jackson and Richard Monroe Jackson. James grew up in Grand Prairie, Texas and moved to Oklahoma in 2001, to follow the calling the Lord placed on his life to be a pastor. James graduated from South Grand Prairie High School in 1981 and then attended Tyler Junior College and received an Associate of Applied Science.

James married Brenda Jean (Cohea) Jackson on July 11, 1981, in Duncanville, Texas, and they enjoyed nearly 44 wonderful years together before his illness and death.

James was a dedicated husband, father and Poohpa, who dedicated his life to the work of the Lord and to his family. His heart’s desire was to see all of his friends and family serving the Lord. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family. His favorite things to do were to take all of the grandkids to the Peach Barn for peach ice cream and fried pies and to sit around the fire pit making s’mores. He also loved woodworking. He always said he could look at a piece of wood and imagine what he could create, and then he would do it.

James began his career at Texas Power & Light in 1983 and after 18 years, the Lord called him into the ministry. In 2001, James and his family moved to Ada, Oklahoma and began what God had called him to do. He pastored Ada 1st Assembly of God for 3 years, The Connection Assembly of God in Davenport, Oklahoma for 10 years and Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Seminole, Oklahoma for 10 years. He loved the Lord and he loved preaching his word. He was a faithful servant. All he wanted was to get well so he could preach again. While pastoring, he also worked as a custodian/maintenance man for the Davenport ISD. He sure loved all of the kids and they loved him. You knew this by the stories he would tell.

James is survived by his loving wife Brenda Jackson of the home in Prague, Oklahoma, two sons and spouses; James R. and Amy Jackson of Ada, Oklahoma and Scott and Amber Jackson of Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma; two sisters; Rita and Ronnie Myers of Seminole, Oklahoma and Nancy Harris of Wewoka, Oklahoma and eight grandchildren; Jadyn, Zachary, Riley, Henry, Benjamin, Cody, Dalton, Eden.

James was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Sue Jackson of Wewoka, Oklahoma, his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and a grandson, Lagan Jackson of Ada, Oklahoma.
