Rev. Bill Edmond Hobia, Sr., 80, of Seminole, Oklahoma , passed away Friday, August 2, 2019 in Seminole. He was born August 16, 1938, in the Greasy Creek area, to Lewis Hobia and Agnes (Wesley) Hobia. He attended Seneca Indian School till the 8th grade and then was transferred to Chilocco and also attended Bearden High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1960. Rev. Hobia was the current pastor at Snake Creek # 2 Church, east of the Little Community and had been in the ministry since 1983. He attended services supporting many families, even if he didn't know them.He loved tending to the church grounds and visiting family, friends and other ministers. Rev. Hobia, a full blood Muscogee Creek tribal member, was nominated by his Kailgee Tribal Town twice for the AARP elder award. In 2018 he represented his tribal town and received the award. Rev. Hobia is survived by two sons; Bill Hobia, Jr. of the home and Kevin R. Hobia and his wife Lydia of Shawnee, Oklahoma, five daughters; Katherine Billie of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Nina Pettit of the home, Lenora Hobia of Wetumka, Oklahoma, Leanne Wolfe and her husband Richard of Tecumseh, Oklahoma and Meloche Hobia of the home, two brothers; Tiger Hobia and Wilburn Hobia both of Wetumka, Oklahoma, three sisters; June Fixico of Wetumka, Martha Givens and her husband Ben and Mary Givens and her husband Jesse all of Wetumka, Oklahoma. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 49 years, Margaret Hobia. Rev. Hobia will lie in state at Swearingen Funeral Home until 4:00 P.M. Monday, August 5, 2019 and will then be moved to Snake Creek #2. Wake services will be held at 7:00 P.M. at the church. Rev. Hobia will be moved at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 6, 2019 to the Highway Baptist Church, north of the Little Community, for the funeral service which will be at 1:00 P.M. Rev. Tony Buck, Rev. Harry Anderson and Rev. Kenneth Cooper will officiate the service. His final resting place will be at the Snake Creek # 2 Church Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Lewis Hobia, Michael Hartley, Mitchell Anderson, Senhelvpke Frazier, Joe R. Fixico, and Alex M. Lena. Honorary bearers will be Pastors; Jimpsey Harjo, Walter Factor, Rick Deer, Ed Jimboy, Mark Smith and Sydney Lee.
