Relta Mae Hopkins Templeton, 88, longtime Maud, Oklahoma resident, died Saturday, May 17, 2014 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. Relta was born September 25, 1925 near Meeker, Oklahoma to Charley R. “Gramps” Roberts and Alta ( Gooker) Roberts. Relta was a beauty operator in Maud since November 19, 1962. She received her instructor‘s license in 1964 and taught three students in her salon. Her home has been in Maud, Oklahoma since 1948. Relta married Frank Hopkins in 1947, in Stillwell, Oklahoma, and he preceded her in death on March 25, 1967 and later married Douglas Templeton in 1967, and he preceded her in death on December 16, 1999. Relta belonged to the Rebekah Lodge, and went through the chairs and held all of the offices of the lodge. She also served as lodge deputy and district deputy under Lorene Davenport, Assembly president. She partially retired to take care of her dad, and Douglas, her husband, after his stroke. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Shawnee, Oklahoma Relta is survived by her grandsons; Frank Hopkins, Jr. and his wife Amanda of Maud, Oklahoma, and Nick B. Hopkins and Jennifer of College Station, Texas, one nephew, Larry G. Bell of Del City, Oklahoma, and six great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one son Frankie Daryl Hopkins, Jr. who died July 7, 2005, two brothers Charles Roberts and Allen Roberts and one sister Betty Bell. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Friday, May 23, 2014, at the Church of Christ in Maud, Oklahoma with Frank Brewer, officiating. Burial will follow at the Tecumseh Mission Cemetery in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Knight- Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud, Oklahoma.
