Rebecca “Becky” Lee Moreland, 75, passed away on October 18, 2021, at her home in Seminole, Oklahoma with her children, Heather and Brandon by her side. She was born September 18, 1946, in Sulphur, Oklahoma to Charles Cooper and Ree Perry (Snider) Cooper. She moved to Seminole after marrying Jerry Moreland on October 16, 1970. They were married for 30 years when Jerry passed away on April 30, 2001.
While her children were growing up Becky worked in the library at Seminole High School. In 1997 she went to work at Seminole State College as a Library Aide Clerk and later as an operator for the Campus Switchboard and Dispatcher Clerk for the SSC Campus Police until her retirement in 2014. She enjoyed shopping, decorating and visiting with her many friends. She was a wonderful MeMe to her grandchildren who were the lights of her life. She loved her Lord and was a great prayer warrior.
Becky is survived by her children; Heather James and her husband Jeff of Seminole, Oklahoma and Brandon Moreland and his wife Karin of Edmond, Oklahoma, her grandchildren; Jensen James, Jacey James, Emma Moreland, Megan Moreland, Jillian Moreland and Bradley Moreland, her brother; Chuck Cooper and his wife Vicky of Davis, her brother-in-law Bill Moreland of Vancouver, British Columbia and her nieces and nephews; Devin Smith, Charlie Cooper and his wife Robin and Nancy Moreland and her husband Dr. Ken Schenkman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ree Cooper and her husband, Jerry Moreland.
A Celebration of Life Service to honor Becky will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 22, 2021, at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with Nick Atyia officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the Seminole State College Educational Foundation for the Moreland Family Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 351, Seminole, Oklahoma 74818.
