Raymond William "Dusty" Reed III, 40, Maud, Oklahoma resident, died Monday, March 3, 2014 in Seminole County. Dusty was born May 29, 1973 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Connie (Lewis) Reed and Raymond William Reed, Jr. Dusty grew up in the Seminole and Maud areas and attended Seminole Public Schools, he later attended Northeastern University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma for a few years. Dusty did restoration of old southern homes in Savannah, Georgia for a while and loved helping his grandfather, Togie Lewis, to whom he was very close, with his ranch and horses. Dusty was also a salesman for Mattress Giant Retailer in Dallas, Texas., and received several “Salesman of the Month” and “Manager of the Year” awards Dusty was a member of the Choctaw Tribe of Oklahoma. Dusty also served as Chaplain, of the Sons of the American Legion in Savannah, Georgia. Dusty loved people, he had a personality to which people where drawn. Dusty loved the tropics, the ocean and deep-sea fishing. He had a love for the University of Oklahoma and enjoyed going to their games. Dusty loved celebrating his birthdays by floating the Illinois River with his friend, and St. Patrick’s Day. Dusty was kindhearted and was always there for his friends whenever they needed him. He also helped take care of his grandfather, Togie Lewis, in his dying days. Mr. Lewis died February 7, 2014. Dusty is survived by his mother, Connie (Lewis) Reed of Maud, Oklahoma, his brother, Clint Reed of Dallas, Texas, grandmother, Glenda Lewis of Maud, Oklahoma, his aunts and uncles, Glen and Dian Koch of Seminole, Oklahoma, Gary and Melanie Lewis of Maud, Oklahoma and Mike and Jerry Jackson of Edmond, Oklahoma. Many friends and family who loved him dearly also survive him. His father, Raymond William Reed, Jr. and his grandfather, Togie Lewis, and his grandmother, Geraldine Reed Long, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, with Rev. Mark Hennen officiating. Burial will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Oklahoma. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
