Raymond "Ray" Garner

November 22, 1927 — January 1, 2020

Raymond Elliott “Ray” Garner, 92 year old Maud, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life on January 1st, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born to Arthur and Iva (Patterson) Garner on November 22nd, 1927 in Maud, Oklahoma. Ray joined the service at the age of 16, and he was in the Army Air Corp serving in WWII as a gunner. He served for 4 years and traveled all over the world before returning home and meeting the love of his life, Wilda “Jim” (Hill).  They were married July 15th, 1950 in Shawnee, Ok. Ray worked in the oil field most of his life and ran cattle.  He knew a little bit about everything and was always quick to let you know how to “do it the right way”.  He enjoyed pumping wells later in life and checking the cows, but what he treasured most was time with his family.  His Grandkids were the highlight of his life. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Wilda “Jim” Garner of the home, his daughter and son-in-law Paula (Garner) Jasper and Rex of Texas, his grandson and granddaughter in law Stan and April Gregory of Maud, Oklahoma, his great grandchildren Ashley and Kyle Gregory as well as his future great grandson in law Travis Potts, and his sister Barbara Barner of Seminole, Oklahoma, and Brother Glendon Garner of Maud, Oklahoma. Ray is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Linda Garner and Joy Waltman of Maud, Oklahoma and Robbie and her husband Bob Jenkins of Goldsby, Oklahoma and by a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Dale and Bill Garner. Funeral Services were held Friday, January 3, 2020 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Chaplain Tommy Azlin officiating the service.  Interment followed at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Oklahoma. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Faith Hospice for their outstanding care. Services were under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
