Raymond Andrew Alexander, 71, longtime Seminole resident, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013 in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Raymond was born July 12, 1941 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Andrew E. and Irene (Coker) Alexander. Raymond grew up in the Shawnee, Oklahoma area and had lived in Seminole the past three years. He attended and graduated high school at Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kansas. He was a Drug and Alcohol Counselor for private facilities. Raymond served in the U.S. Army as a Private, during the Vietnam War. He was a proud member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma. Raymond is survived by a son Alex Alexander and his wife Anita of Missouri; Four brothers, Marvin Alexander of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Paul Alexander of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, David Alexander of Pleasant Valley, Tennessee and Thomas Jones of Seminole, Oklahoma; three sisters Jeanie Shaw of Atlanta, Georgia, Bonnie Gibson of Mounds, Oklahoma and Bertha Tilkens of Norman, Oklahoma and one grandchild. His parents, and a daughter Sherry Alexander preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with burial following in the Jones Family Cemetery northeast of Seminole, Oklahoma.
