Albert “Ray” Ramey, 79 year-old, lifelong Seminole County resident passed from this life Monday, August 24, 2009 at his home in Earlsboro, Oklahoma. He was born May 21, 1930 in Seminole, Oklahoma to parents Robert Ramey and Effie (Hale) Ramey. Ray had served in the United States Army where he earned the rank of Sergeant. He was awarded the following commendations; CIB; Purple Heart; Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars. He received the Purple Heart after he was wounded in action in Korea in March of 1951. Ray had worked as a truck driver. He married Evelyn Williams on April 18, 1974 in Paris, Texas. He was a member of the Seminole Assembly of God Church. Ray was also a member of the American Legion in Seminole. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn (Williams) Ramey of the home; one son, Royce Ramey of Harrah, Oklahoma; two daughters, Bobbie Ramey of Grand Lake, Oklahoma and Ginger Hulsey of Luther, Oklahoma; one brother, E.T. Ramey of Eufaula, Oklahoma; two sisters, Melinda Self of Seminole, Oklahoma and Alta Duncan of Sulphur, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; Ray is also survived by a host of other family and friends. Ray is preceded in death by his parents and by four brothers. Cremation services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma. A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Little Cemetery, north of Seminole.
