Ray Lee

Ray Lee, 83 year-old Maud resident, passed from this life on February 19, 2011 at his home in Maud.  He was born August 16, 1927 in Nacogdoches, Texas to parents Curtis Jack Lee and Elizabeth (Pate) Lee. Ray married his first wife Marie Horner on November 10, 1947 in Junction City, Kansas. Ray served 22 years in the United States Army earning the rank of Infantry Senior Sergeant before his military retirement.  Following his time in the service he owned and operated his own Dodge dealership in Junction City, Kansas.  He and his first wife Marie moved to Maud in 1973. Following his move to Maud, Ray worked as a car salesman for Norton’s and Harvey’s auto dealerships in Shawnee.  He later married “MiMi” (Walker) Lee on June 9, 1991 in Maud, Oklahoma Ray was very involved with the Masonic Lodge # 106 in Maud where he had earned the degree of 32° Mason.  He was also a member of Trinity Baptist Church, a member of the McAlester Consistory, and a former Shriner. Ray is survived by his wife, Mimi Lee of the home; one daughter, Janet Kay of Porum, Oklahoma; four sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Donna Harrison of Safford, Arizona, Marty and Pam Harrison of Lincoln, Nebraska, Jon and Leslie Harrison of Mission Viejo, California and Jeff Harrison of Maud, Oklahoma; 18 grandchildren, Clint and Malisha Robertson of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Ralene Robertson Van Horn of Dale, Oklahoma, Patrick Cynova of Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania, Christine Wise of Harjo, Oklahoma, Debra Wise Vanzandt of Seminole, Oklahoma, Brac and Melisa Boren of Prior Lake, Minnesota, Ryan and Tisha Boren Brandt of Bixby, Oklahoma, Walker Harrison, Emma Harrison of Safford, Arizona, Matthew Harrison and Brandon Harrison both of Lincoln, Nebraska, Cadet Jacob Harrison of the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Benjamin Harrison and Natalie Harrison both of Mission Viejo, California and Luke Harrison of Maud, Oklahoma; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Beth Shipman of Maud, Oklahoma and Gloria Lee of Nederland, Texas; one brother-in-law, Tommy Hargarve of Bridge City, Texas; and a host of other family and dear friends. Ray was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Jack Lee and his mother Elizabeth (Pate) Lee; by his first wife Marie (Horner) Lee who died December 19, 1990; by two daughters, Terry Davenport and Pamela Hopkins; one great-grandson, Richard James Boren; and by four sons-in-law, Jack Robertson, Floyd Churchill, Daryl Hopkins and Robert Kay. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Trinity Baptist Church in Maud, Oklahoma with military honors.  Pastor Rusty McMullen will officiate the service.  Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee, Oklahoma with Masonic rites. Casket bearers will be: Ken Robertson, Luke Harrison, Ty Robertson, Clint Robertson, Brac Boren and Patrick Cynova. Services are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud, Oklahoma. Phone 405-374-2424.
