Ray Lee Griffin was born November 23, 1939 in Battiest, Oklahoma, to Mable (Dean) and Ted Griffin. Ray passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2016, in Seminole, Oklahoma. He graduated from Battiest High School in Battiest, Oklahoma. Ray was of the Baptist Faith. Ray retired from the United States Army after serving 20 years of service. He was a Purple Heart recipient and served in Vietnam. After the military, Ray moved to Seminole, Oklahoma, and work in the Seminole oilfields for ten years, followed by driving semi-trucks cross country for ten years. Ray is survived by his wife Bernadette Griffin; five children, Ramona and her husband Frank Fernandez of Dededo Guam; Jenny Basque of Seminole, Oklahoma, Ray Griffin, Jr. of Seminole, Oklahoma, John Griffin and his wife Ann of Aurora, Illinois, and Laurie and her husband Tom Kelty of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren, four sisters and four brothers-in-law. He was preceded in death by parents, his step-mom, Thelma Griffin and his son-in-law, Richard Basque, Jr. Memorial services will be held for the immediate family only.  There will be a public viewing on Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Swearingen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the charity of your choice.
