Randy Harjo, 53 year-old lifelong Maud, Oklahoma resident passed from this life Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at St. Anthony Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He was born June 19, 1959 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to parents Jonases “Smokey” Harjo and Mary Ellen (Scott) Harjo. Randy attended Maud Public Schools. He latter worked for many years at the Wrangler Jean Company in Seminole until he retired in 2010. Randy was a member of the Achena Presbyterian Church located south east of Maud. Randy was a proud member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma (the Newcomer Band.) Randy loved to go camping, play sudoku and watch WWE Wrestling. He was also a self proclaimed Oklahoma Sooner number one fan. Survivors include one brother, Jonase Leon Harjo of Maud, Oklahoma; four sisters, Joanna Harjo and her husband Curtis Gentry of Asher, Oklahoma, Jeannette Harjo-Codd and her husband George of Staten Island, New York, Toni Harjo of Maud, Oklahoma, Tiffany Harjo of Blackwell, Oklahoma; ten nephews, Jacob, Jeremiah, Joshua, Christian, Hunter, Keelan, Androu, Nicholas, Michael and Trey; six nieces, Lia, Ashton, Andrea, Elizabeth, Alice and Kerra Lynn. Randy is also survived by a host of other family and dear friends. Randy is preceded in death by his grandfather, Lee Harjo; his parents “Smokey” and Mary Harjo; three sisters, Rosie Harjo, Kathie Hurst and Rita Phelps. Visitation will be held at Swearingen Funeral Home Thursday, March 14th and Friday, March 15th. The body will be taken to the home located at 127 East Monroe in Maud, Oklahoma at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 16th for an evening wake. The body will be taken back to Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole at 4:00 p.m., Sunday for a wake service at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel that is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 18, 2013 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma. Officiating the services will be Houston Tiger, Frank Brewer, Farin Coody and J.C. Simpson. Interment will follow at the Harjo Family Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be: Nolan “Buddy” Dodson, Tony Berryhill, James Turnbow, Herman Foster, Ronnie Powell and Keelan Paschal. Honorary Bearers will be: Lindsay Bondoni, Ringo Harjo, Albert Curley, Sonny Turnbow, David Harris, George Harjo and Paul Williams.
