Randolph "RD" Coody , age 64 and a long-time resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away September 16, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
A wake service is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at High Springs Baptist Church in Konawa under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Refreshment will be served at the church. He will be taken to the church from the funeral home at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 20th at the Konawa High School - PAC Building located at 701 W. South St. in Konawa, and burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Faron Coody and Rev. Bill "Skip" Foster will officiate, and casket bearers are Bryan Russell, Brandon Stoup, Mark Stoup, Karis Reavis, Lester Billie, Jr., James Billie, Craig Lankford, and Salyer Billie. Honorary bearers are Kevin Chapman, David Farmer, David Peterson, Harold Cully, Kris Hall, and Ray Lemmings. Flower Girls are Shelby Campbell, Ashley Fry, Karina Ramirez, Braylynn Sack, Makinze Johnson, and Skyler Reavis. Food can be taken to the Konawa Community Building on Wednesday, and a meal will be served after the burial.
RD Coody was born in Claremore, Oklahoma on November 8, 1958 to Roger Coody and Edith (Cully) Coody. He was a big fan of the Kansas City Chiefs football team, and he enjoyed coaching little league baseball and softball. RD enjoyed watching his daughter, Sheyenne play sports and cheer. His most enjoyable moment was when his granddaughter, Rosalina was born. He was a big fan of all of his nieces and nephews in all sports. He enjoyed Native Hymns, and he especially enjoyed listening to his nephew, Travis Hunter sing. RD worked in construction for many years before working for the City of Konawa for the Water Department for over thirty years before his sickness. He married Wanda Lynn Billie April 9, 1997 at High Spring Baptist Church, and they were married for 26 years.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Coody of the home; two sons, Roger Coody and Timothy Rosamond of Tulsa, and Jason Coody of Tulsa; one daughter, Sheyenne (Coody) Torres and husband, Rafael of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one brother, Stanley Coody of Konawa; two grandchildren, Rosalina (Coody) Torres of Tulsa, and Donavon Bishop (Coody) Garman of Tulsa; seven sisters-in-law, Becky and Rick Pemberton of Konawa, Tonya and Kevin Chapman of Konawa, Tisha and David Farmer of Allen, Regina and Jerrod Chase-the-Bear of Ponca City, Lisa Billie of Seminole, Audrey Davis of Seminole, and Andrea Davis of Seminole; six brothers-in-law, Keith and Renee Billie of Konawa, Dennis Billie of Konawa, Thomas Billie, Jr. of Shawnee, Oklahoma; Lester Billie, Sr. of Seminole, Danney Billie of Edmond, and James Billie of Seminole; and numerous nieces and nephews, Travis Hunter, Brandon Hunter, Braylon Hunter, Craig Lankford, Rachel Lankford, Keith Billie, II, Danielle Billie, Michelle Hamilton, Madison Chapman, Madelyn Chapman, Tierra Farmer, Kayli Ramey, Jake Farmer, Dakota Farmer, Lynnea Chase-the-Bear, Nate Chase-the-Bear, Lainey Cole, Casey Cole, Salyer Billie, Tia Billie, Dianne Reeves, Lester Billie, Jr., Spring Billie, Thomasina Billie, Thomas Billie, III, and Stuart Pierce; and many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Edith Coody; one son, Baby Boy Coody; one sister, Wynema Coody; one brother Frank Cully, and nephew, Frank Tyson Coody.
