Randell Stargell, age 63, passed away January 24, 2020 at his home in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He was born November 5, 1956 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to parents Joe and Mae Lee (Jackson) Stargell. He was the youngest of nine children. Randell united at a young age with New Hope Baptist church in Earlsboro, Oklahoma under the leadership of Jesse Woodfork, Sr. He was a graduate of Earlsboro High School. Randell worked for several years in the maintenance department at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was a die-hard sports fan, especially the Dallas Cowboys, OU Sooners and LA Lakers. He loved to see kids smile and laugh and he was known as the “Candy Man”. He loved photography and photographed family weddings and various events. Randell was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Mae Lee Stargell, brothers Kenneth Stargell and Joe Wendell Stargell and sister Shirley Avon Stargell Nash. He leaves to cherish his memories, his sisters; Jo Ann “Jody” Hunter and Wanda Hinex , both of Midwest City, Oklahoma and Loretta DeJear of Oklahoma city, Oklahoma, brothers-in-law; Willie Hutchinson of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Harold DeJear of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services for Randell will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Emmanuel Temple of Praise & Deliverence, 37406 Westech Road, Shawnee, Oklahoma, with Odell Hardeman officiating. Burial will follow at Earlsboro Cemetery in Earlsboro, Oklahoma. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation for words of comfort and love shown to them during their bereavement.
