Ramona Cordell

Ramona Lee (Byford) Cordell, 70 year-old, Seminole resident passed from this life Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Seminole Care and Rehabilitation Center.  She was born June 21, 1940 in Seminole, Oklahoma to parents John D. Byford and Charline (Blankenship) Crawford.  She was then raised by her mother and step-father Truitt Crawford. Ramona married Billy Joe Cordell on August 3, 1957 in Seminole, Oklahoma. She worked as the assistant manager for the Days Inn Motel in Shawnee, Oklahoma until her retirement in 2001. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Rick Cordell of Seminole, Oklahoma, Robbie and Gayle Cordell of Holdenville, Oklahoma, Billy J. Cordell, Jr. and his wife Tami of Seminole, Oklahoma; one brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Connie Crawford of Forney, Texas; nine grandchildren, Rick Lovett Jr., Angel Dawn Cordell, Brian Fletcher, Shae Fletcher, Amanda Sumpter, Cameron Cordell, Brittney Cordell, Garrett Cordell and Katy Cordell; thirteen great-grandchildren, Harley Lovett, Shilynn Lovett, Kaleigh Lovett, Alyssa Lovett, Justin Cordell, Eternity Mashtare, Brayden Mashtare, Rhilynn Mashtare, Rachelle Lovett, Chevy Richardson, Sabra Richardson and Christopher Fletcher; one great-great-grandchild, Mikinzee Lovett; and a host of other family and dear friends. Ramona is preceded in death by her father, John D. Byford; her mother, Charlene Crawford; her step-father, Truitt Crawford; by her husband, Billy Joe Cordell on April 11, 2001; one daughter, Atonia Kaye Lovett; and by grandson Brad Lovett. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel located at 1001 North Milt Phillips Ave. in Seminole, Oklahoma.  Freeman Whitlock will officiate the service. Honorary bearers will be: Gary Don Cordell, Melvin Creig, Bobby Barnes, Billy Barnes, Jody Willson and Craig Willson.
