Rachel E. Mendenhall, 99, longtime Seminole resident died Tuesday, August 5, 2013 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Rachel was born November 5, 1913 in Glenco, Oklahoma to Leo W. and Agnes Octavia (Young) Adams. Mrs. Mendenhall was a homemaker and loved making quilts; she made over 300 during her life. She also loved playing Wahoo and Chinese checkers. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Seminole, Oklahoma where she was very active in teaching Sunday school and worked in the primary department, she was also a member of the Ruth Class. Her three sons survive her, Robert Mendenhall of St. Louis, Missouri, Kenneth Mendenhall of Seminole, Oklahoma and Joe Keith Mendenhall of Yale, Oklahoma, three daughters; Earlene Virginia Whitehead of Mannford, Oklahoma, Carolyn Faye Copeland of Crescent, Oklahoma and Rita Ruth Sneed of Yale, Oklahoma. She is also survived by one sister Nila Dawn Kolinske of Cooks, Michigan She had a total of 89 total living blood grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and a total of 28 living step grandchildren and great grand-children Her parents, her husband Earl Mendenhall in 1974, her son Jerry Gene Mendenhall, a daughter Maxine Naomi, two sisters and three brothers, six grandchildren and a daughter-in-law preceded her in death. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 9, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Seminole, Oklahoma with Rev. Marvin Kehl officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole. Serving as casket bearers are: Robert Mendenhall, Larry Bair, Sam Mendenhall, Terry Estes, Jonathan Mendenhall and Richard Buntin. Honorary casket bearers are: Andrew Sneed and Joel Mendenhall. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
