Phillip G. Parks was born July 6th, 1921, in Hugo , Oklahoma to James Henry and Roxie Parks. His father founded Parks Drug in Seminole in 1926 and because of its success, the entire family moved to Seminole in 1931. In 1940, after the death of his father, Phillip and his brother, Henry, took over the business. Phillip attended Seminole Public Schools and graduated from Seminole High School in 1940. He graduated from Seminole Junior College with an associate degree in Accounting in 1942. During World War II, Phillip volunteered to serve his country and joined the U.S. Navy in May, 1942. He served as Pharmacist Mate in the U.S. Medical Corps until the end of the war in 1945.rnrnAfter the war, Phillip?s priorities turned to family and community service. He married Mildred Heath from Holdenville, OK on August 12, 1950. They because parents to three daughters; Regina, Ann, and Kelly. Phillip continued his college education at the University of Oklahoma and Southwestern State College of Pharmacy in Weatherford. He graduated from Southwestern State College of Pharmacy in 1962 with a degree in pharmacy.rnrnIn addition to being a registered pharmacist and owner of Parks Drug, Phillip was also a commercial photographer. He donated his photography services to Seminole High school students and families for over 45 year. Phillip was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the American Legion Post 0204 for 50 years, serving as vice commander of the Seminole post. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, a past-president and member of the Kiwanis Club, and a member of the First Baptist Church. Phillip served as a councilman for the City of Seminole for 25 years, and was vice mayor for 8 years. He also served his community as a volunteer for the Seminole Fire Department from 1948 to 1968.rnrnIn 1968, as past-president of the Kiwanis Club, Phillip was chosen as the most valuable member of this service organization. In 1971, Phillip was honored by being selected by the Oklahoma Journal Newspaper as Oklahoma?s Father of the Year. In 1976, Phillip was selected as the Seminole Citizen of the Year by the Seminole Chamber of Commerce. For Phillip?s 45 years of unselfish and dedicated service to the Seminole Public Schools, he was awarded a plaque of appreciation on September 28, 1990. In 1994, Phillip was inducted in the Seminole Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame for outstanding service to his community. In 2004, Phillip was further honored at the first annual Seminole High School Hall of Fame, and annual event sponsored by Seminole High School Alumni Association.rnrnPhillip was preceded in death by his parents, James Henry and Roxie Parks; a brother, Henry, and sister Marie. He is survived by a sister, Adrienne Anderson, of Edmond, OK. He is also survived by his wife, Mildred, of the home, daughters Regina Carnazzo, Omaha, Nebraska; Ann Black, Ardmore, Oklahoma; and Kelly Holland, Omaha, Nebraska. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Jason and Jennifer Hays, John Black, and Phillip and Patrick Holland; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his employees and dear friends, Celeste Goodnight and Cheryl Morrison, who have become part of his extended family, as well as many other dear friends in the community.rn Funeral Information: June 21, 2007, 10:00 AM
